Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The Teacher will divide students into groups of three and gives each group a HO which may have photo of a countable object or an uncountable object. The HOs with countable nouns may have one or more of that object. The teacher makes sure that students know the difference between countable and uncountable nouns by asking clarification questions such as: "countable nouns!!! raise your hand" or "uncountable nouns!!! stand up"

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students Now have different HOs which contain countable and uncountable nouns. Teacher will try elicit the the two forms of WH-question (How many/How much) by having students' attention to the fact that every group has different numbers or amounts of the objects. The teacher then gives the grammar handout 1 as a final check on the understanding of countable vs. uncountable nouns and also to elicit the rule for using How many/How much. The teacher will then try to elicit and review the concept and usage of some, any and a on the board.

Controlled Practice (4-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The teacher will then give the grammar handout 2 to students as a practice for the usage of some, any and a. The teacher will ask students to check their answer in their groups. The teacher will then provide WC feedback. The teacher will give students the handout 3 of the grammar. The students should complete the questions and ask each other. The teacher will get some feedback.

Listening for Specific information and Details (8-10 minutes) • To set the model for freer practice

Teacher will ask the students to listen to Alex talk to an estates agent and look for specific information and put them in order. The teacher will ask students to check their answers in their groups. The teacher will provide WC feedback. The teacher will ask students to listen to the conversation once more and look for detailed information so that they can decide the statements about the conversation are true or not. Students will check their answers in groups and the teacher will provide WC feedback.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The teacher will give students the free practice hand out. They should walk around the class and ask their friend about the things they have and their quantity. The teacher will monitor and look for any possible errors. After they finish the teacher will get some feedback and provide delayed correction.
