Description

İn this lesson the Ss learn about the imbalances in nature created by human beings and what the author think about it.Lesson starts with a lead in.T shows some pics to the Ss and ask them to discuss about it in groups.Then there is a whole class discussion on the topic.T pre teaches some keywords.T then gives the Ss a question to think while reading the text and provides them with the HO.Ss work in groups.T gives the FB in a WC discussion.Ss do skimming and scanning exercises 1 & 2 while working in pairs.T gives a WC feedback.T provides the HO for ex 3 ,which is a detailed reading.Ss discuss it in groups.T gives a WC FB .T writes two questions on the board and ask the students to discuss about the questions by working in pairs.WC FB at the end.

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about The Sacred balance in the context of Balance in nature.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows some pictures on the board and elicit the topic The Sacred balance from the Ss.Ss then, by working in groups discuss the topic.Then T gives a WC feedback by involving the Ss.

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T writes a question on the board " What do you think we are doing to the nature?" .Then gives HO to the Ss and ask them to read the text and explain what we are doing to the nature.Ss work in groups and discuss it.T elicits one or two responses. T pre-teaches the vocabulary by eliciting from the Ss and asking CCQS.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T asks the Ss to read for a gist and do ex # 1 from the already given HO. Ss work in pairs.They discuss and answer the question.They check in pairs and then whole class elicit.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T then provides the HO for the second exercise, where the Ss have to scan the text to find the reasons that the author gives to support his argument. Ss work in pairs. Check in pairs and then whole class elicit. Ss then do ex #3 which is a detailed reading exercise.Ss work in groups. Whole class feed back by the T at the end of activity.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T writes 2 questions on the board.Ss work in pairs.They ask questions to each other.T then open this up to a whole class discussion by calling on different students to tell their answers. WCFB.
