Experience Grid Swap Procedure: Students receive a grid with 6 prompts: Have you ever treated an exotic animal? Have you ever made a mistake during a procedure? Have you worked in more than one city? Have you taught someone how to give a vaccine? Have you handled an emergency alone? Have you ever regretted a professional decision? They walk around asking classmates and writing their initials in the box if the answer is yes. Followed by whole class recap: Who had the most experiences? What surprised you?
Clinic Snapshot Discussion Cards Procedure: Each group draws a card describing a client situation or work moment. They must: Share if they’ve had similar experiences using present perfect Ask follow-up questions to compare timelines (how long, how often, etc.) Examples: A client brings in a very aggressive dog The clinic’s computer system crashes A pet eats something unknown You’re left alone with five waiting patients Group ends with 1 group summary sentence: -All of us have dealt with similar stress= Open discussion: Have you ever... Students share experiences of their practice and career journey, and compare their paths up until this moment
Achievement Chain Procedure: Each student says one thing they’ve done in their career using present perfect. The next student repeats and adds their own. Example: Luis has assisted in 2 surgeries. I’ve worked night shifts alone. Instructor boards a few examples for pattern reinforcement.
