Procedure (50-60 minutes)
Procedure: Write on the board: I thought I had it all, then everything changed. Ask: Have you ever felt this way? What was happening when your plans didn’t go as expected? Students share short ideas using past tenses: I was working toward a promotion when they closed the clinic.
Procedure: Display a few lines with key verbs blanked out. Students predict verbs: Board key verbs in base form Ask: Which will be past simple? Which might be continuous?
Procedure: Play and listen to the song to complete the gap filling excercise. Students review their predictions and correct if necessary
Listen to the song again and mark all past tense sentences (simple and progressive) Students write a new sentence or verse that matches the song using the target structures. Compare in groups
Procedure: Students ask about any words or phrases they didn’t understand from the lyrics. Instructor defines and explains:
