Description

In this lesson sts will work on Lexis mainly and improve listening skills and speaking skills as sub aims. They will learn adjectives for good and bad and also adverbs such as; not very, very, really through listening and speaking activities.

Materials

Abc good and bad cards

Main Aims

  • To extend students' vocabulary range and practise common modifiers of adjectives to improve their speaking skills

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, the sts will have been familiarized with the adjectives for good&bad . They will also practice the adverbs such as very, really through listening and speaking activities.

Procedure

warmer (4-5 minutes) • to catch their attention and to elicit some of the adjectives from the students

T gives cards to each of the students with pictures of good and bad on them to elicit some adjectives. The students are supposed to write as many adjectives as they can that come up to their minds related to the picture on the cards.Then they are going to check with their pairs. At the end of the activity T wİll try to elicit the adjectives GOOD and BAD

adjectives for good and bad (4-5 minutes) • students will identify the difference between ADJECTİVES FOR GOOD AND BAD.

T will stick two big papers on the walls. one of them will be bad and the other will be good. T will dvide the students into two groups and give them cut outs ( adjectives) , The students will stick the adjectives and group them into good and bad.

Drilling (6-7 minutes) • to elicit the adjectives and drill to practise pronunciation and show the word stress.

Sts listen to the intonation and repeat. They practice word stress through drilling.

Listening (6-7 minutes) • to practise listening skills and the adjectives.

T gives the instruction." Listen to the converstaion and match the nouns with the adjectives". Sts listens and matches. then checks their answers in pairs. After peer correction the T gives the answer key. After the listening activity T elicits the nouns and the adj .

SPEAKING (4-5 minutes) • To improve speaking skills.

T gives the first sentences of the conversations and sts continue the conversations with their partners.

Matching (4-5 minutes) • to improve sts awareness of adverbs to make an adj stronger or not so strong.

T gives the pics of the houses and sentences. Sts match the pics with the sentences and check in pairs. The teacher shows pictures of Intelligent People in order to teach the adj "intelligent " as well as practising adverbs not very- very- really.. T shows these adverbs on a cline.

Listening (6-7 minutes) • to practice adv+adj through listening to conversations.

Sts listen to the conversations and find what adv+adj they use. check their answers in pairs and then they get the answer key.

Follow up. running dictation activity (6-7 minutes) • to practice the pronunciation and spelling of the adjectives.

T sticks the story papers on the walls and gives the instruction. The students are going to work in pairs of them will walk, read the sentence come back and dictate. the other student will write down. Then when they are finished, they will check their answers. At the end of the activity the students will practice both listening and spelling.
