In this lesson the students will learn the past simple regular and irregular verbs compred to the present simple tense in the context of habits and blallalal

Materials

Abc cut cards- handouts

Main Aims

  • To provide review of the past simple in the context of work

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a paragraph in the context of work

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Put them in groups that have names

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

each group will be given a set of cut cards that contains sentences in the past and sentenses in the present . The students will put the cards in the right paper. they will have 5mn to order them. the correction will be found on the wb

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Students will check their answers and focus on the sentences in the past . T. will ask them to find the infinitive of the verbs and find out the regular and irregular verbs. Students will find the time markers that indicate the past and try to use them in sentences of their own.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

T. gives handouts that contain exercises about the past sipmle tense vs the present simple. They will do them in groups the answers will be sticked on the walls or on the board .It depends on time it takes

sentences' ordering activities (8-10 minutes) • Get the students distinguish between writing about daily activities and writing biographies

ask the students to get back to the sentences of the past order them to get a coherent paragraph. Ask the students to do the same with the sentences of the present . by the end of the activity the students will make the difference between people's biographies and writing about people's daily activities.
