In this lesson students learn Grammar about how much is/are and prices about clothes.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of How much is/are in the context of Buying clothing

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Clothing words in the context of Buying clothing

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Stick pictures of clothing on the board and draw a price tag. I will say that I am shopping for clothes. I looked at these items. What are they? How much do they cost?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will Write how much is...the hat? how much is the skirt? how much is the tie? how much is the suit? how much ARE the trousers?

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Give students handout. They will listen to the audio and do the example 1a. They will check with a partner for the 2nd listening. Then I will elicit students to give the answers which I write on the board. Then we will do 1b...I need to write the words on the board.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Grammar 1a I will write this on the board. Going back over the first images first. Students independantly fill in the blanks. Then I elicit answers. 1.83 audio students listen and answer..I need to write the question on the board.

While listening (8-10 minutes) • Use grammar and lexis they are learning

Work in groups. Grammar 3 check as a class I need to write them on the board.
