Description

In this lesson students learn the 3rd person affirmative and negative. Lesson starts with the pictures of people wearing different colours. Then the teacher gives examples of her preferences.After setting the context two two controlled practices are completed. They practice what they learned during the second half of the lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of 3rd person present simple affirmative and negative in the context of colours and clothes

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of colours

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will start the with greeting the class. Then write the sentence 'I like BLACK , Then asks, Who likes BLUE? Eyüp likes BLUE. Then writes the answer. There are two sentences on the WB. I like BLACK, Eyüp likes BLUE. -s is written with a different colour.

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will display photos of Kate Middleton. She likes red/ She likes dress. T will point to herself. I like black/ I like trousers. Talk to your friend , Which colour do you like? I like white. Share with the class.

Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will play the tape. Then write the sentences on the WB. Students will drill. T will ask CCQs. I likes black clothes? No/ I doesn't like black clothes? No

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will give the instructions for activity 2b. Make sentences negative. Positive or negative. In pairs or alone? Alone. Display with body language. Then give the hand out. Monitor the students. Tell them to check with their partner. Then ask the early finishers to come and write the answers. Drill the answers with the students.

Semi-Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Before giving the handout give the instructions. Students will listen 1.85 again. Read the sentences, decide true/false. T will write tick and x on WB. Tell them to check with their partner. Then write the answers on WB.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will tell their friends what colours they wear. Then they say two sentences about their partner. Teacher will write model sentences on WB. The students will be asked to mingle.
