Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T : Hang picture of herself. T : Who is this ? Elicit : Teacher/Dina. T : Where is she from ? Elicit : From Egypt . T : My name's Dina,I'm from Egypt, I'm E..... try to Elicit Egyptian. T : Egyptian ! Right :) T : And I like Egyptian food,while hanging a picture of "Kofta" an Egyptian dish T : I eat Kofta in a Restaurant. It's name is OM Hassan. T : Now tell me about you , you are from Turkey,right ? T :You are ..... ? Elicit : Turkish. WCFB T : Hang a picture/pictures of a Turkish restaurant . T : This is a .... ? Elicit : Turkish restaurant . WCFB Remove Pictures off WB .

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T : In pairs , talk about your favorite food,the food you like. And the name of the restaurant,is it A Turkish restaurant , Is it AN Italian restaurant ? . T :You will work in pairs,or alone ? Elicit : Pairs. T : You have 2 minutes to talk about it,you have 4 minutes ? Elicit : 2 minutes . T : What's Your favorite food/name of the restaurant ? Elicit details off 2 Students for one type of food and one restaurant's name. T : What is the name of the restaurant again ? T : OH !!! Is that a Turkish restaurant or "an" Italian restaurant ? Elicit Turkish . WCFB T : Is it cheap........... or expensive ? Elicit : It is .... "WCFB" T : Do they have fish ? Elicit : They have ..... "WCFB" T : Is it a big or a small restaurant . Elicit it is a big/small restaurant . "WCFB" T : Write the key for the symbols on the handout . EX : write "TL" or the symbol for Lyra then ask what is this ? Elicit : Turkish Lyra . WCFB T : Circle number 1 on top of TL and put TL inside a square then write the sign = cheap. TL TL =not too expensive, write Quite expensive first then make them guess how many times I have to write "TL" Elicit then write Expensive then elicit TL 4 times,help them if needed.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T : Hangs pictures of names of restaurants : As in ex "1 a" . T : Gets handout that is related to that activity ,GIVES TUTOR A COPY. T: Hold paper for instructions , on your own,alone and holds one finger to clarify individual work, read then point at the sentences on the paper. Then point at the pictures on the board,then ask students to match. T :You work in pairs or alone ? Elicit : Alone T : gives handouts "give the tutor " T : You have 3 minutes ,3 minutes or 5 minutes ? Elicit 3 minutes . T : In pairs check with your partner . T: Corrects the sentences as a whole class . T : I would like you all to take me to one of these restaurants. T : In 2 groups think and choose which one is good for and why ? depending on class count i will divide them into 2 or 3 groups. T : you will work in pairs or in groups ? Elicit Group. T : you have 3 minutes. T : elicits details of restaurant and make sure they state reasons for choice that imply they comprehended the text. T : Ask students,is it Turkish ? Is it expensive ? What do they have ? Is it a small or a big restaurant ? Elicit answers. T : Ok,I like this restaurant , we will go :) T : removes pictures off the board .

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T : Write on the board China : Chinese food T : Writes on the board : Italy,the USA/America,India,Japan and Turkey, then leaves a space and writes the word food. As in table ex : 1b T : Plays the record : 1.69 T : In pairs,work together to answer that. T : In pairs or alone ? Elicit : In pairs . T : You have 1 minute. How many minutes ? Elicits one minute . T : Goes through them with the whole class,maybe give 2 more examples orally like Egypt and Turkey.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T : On your own,think about a restaurant you know and point at students . Then write about it. T : On your own,alone. OR with a partner . T : You have 3 minutes . You have 5 minutes ? Elicits 3 minutes . T : In pairs check your answers with your partner ,and talk to each other about your restaurant. T : Will give them 2 minutes to talk,then ask them to mingle and share the answers with each other.
