Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T puts a pic.of a calendar on WB and writes '' today and tomorrow '' ( using colored carton arrows to highlight the terms and makes the sts recognize today's date by writing and specifying it on WB. T: Today___Thursday / This is today. ( What day is it ?) S: It/Today is Thursday. T: Tomorrow______Friday / This is tomorrow.( What day is it?) S: It/Tomorrow is Friday. T also says a chant '' Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday and Sunday'' to take the sts's attention on the context and repeats the chant again with monday but this time allows the sts to continue with the chant as a WC activity and thus T focuses on the pronounciation of the vocabulary.

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T allows the students listen Audio Cd 1.56 ( English Unlimited Starter Course Book) and allows the sts.repeat the words to identify and practise pronounciation. Then T shows the sts the enlarged pic.of a calendar and gives clear and simple instruction: Look and write the days on a calendar! (in PW)( T uses his/her mimes and gestures)

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T writes down the days in correct order on WB and checks what sts have done on HO.s and draws students's attention on days and allows them to understand how they are written and and pronounciated by underlying the sounds of the words that should be stressed.

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T calls out ex; ''Wednesday'' and allows the sts go on with the other day but one by one. Later on T gives a clear instruction: Look at number 1/2/3/4/5/6 and write the next 2 days.(using mimes and gestures especially for ''next'') T makes sts work and check in pairs and then writes the days in an order of how is shown on HO activity 1c.and allows students write the next 2 days on WB and revise WC the meaning, form and pronounciation of the vocabulary.

Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T writes on board some sentences about herself using the vocab.(free, busy, not here)and underlines them and displays some photos of herself. T allows sts look at the pictures and estimate the unknown words in pairs.(GW) Then T shows sts the character Aki's photo and the other calendar photo on the course book and elicits sts by asking questions to say: T:Who is she? S:She is Aki. T:Is she free or busy? S:She is busy. T:When is she free? S:......................(On Tuesday) T:When is she busy? S:......................( On Monday) T:When is she not here?( On Wednesday) Then T makes the sts listen Audio CD 1.57

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

T writes on board ''On+Days ex; on Monday,................,on Tuesday morning,etc......''''in+the morning,etc......''''at+six o'clock,etc.........'' and allows sts repeat the sentences. Then T writes down again some sentences with vocabulary mistakes and allows sts correct the sentences on WB. T asks some optional questions round the class (T-WC): T: When are you free/busy? S:I'm free on ................etc. T:What about on Saturday morning?/ What about tomorrow evening?etc......... S:.............................................................................................. After then T gives a clear instruction to sts( T: Look at number 3 and write!)makes sts do fill in the gaps activity and check in pairs and later on allows sts write on the board what they have written. T divides the board into 8 parts and writes down some missing patterns then makes sts race and fill in the gaps in a right way. T allows the other sts to find out and write their own examples: S: On Sunday,in the afternoon,at 10 o'clock,etc.................

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T divides the class into two and gives them different HOs.( Group A_ page 89 a diary,Group B-page 95 a diary)T allows the sts look at the diaries and try to find out when they are both free but first T makes 2 sts dramatize the conversation with their own imagination and then allows WC stand up and speak to each other.( S-S) S(A): Are you free on on Tuesday? S(B): No,I am busy. S(A):When are you free? S:(B):I am busy on Wednesday but free on Monday evening. s:(A): Ohhhh! Me too!
