Demonstrations and Protests Lesoon
To provide gist, specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about Global May day in the context of Protesting
To provide clarification and practice of people talking about what and why they are protesting in the context of protests
Procedure (30-43 minutes)
T is going to use photos of specific demonstrations, mostly gezi. Ask questions to students about protests and tell them to discuss in pairs. (will be more specific about grouping)
T is going to introduce the 1st activity. First explain by writing the headlines on the WB and make a demo, then give to the students. Ask the ICQs. Are we doing alone or in pairs, Are we writing or just matching. Tell them to do it alone then check with different pairs this time.
T is going to give the instructions for the T/F activity and give it to the students, then ask the ICQs. Are they all true, Are they all false. Start listening.
The students will be asked to do the 2nd activity. The ICQs will be asked. Ask them to do alone and discuss the answers in pairs. Check the answers with the class. Then the CCQs will be asked.
Students will be asked to discuss the lexis after they change the groups. Then they will be asked to share with the class for feedback.
