Procedure

Preparations during the break • Setting the context, saving time

-Seats will be arranged in multiple semi-circles -the curtains will be used to make the lighting a bit dim to help add cariety to the lesson and separate the production and study stages of the lesson. -An origami miniature town will be placed on a desk in the middle of the classroom. To both set the context and serve as a reference, if problems with at/in prepositions arise.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-Ss will be shown the exercise HO (folded/cut) -T: *gestures and miming/minimum of words* ""Listen and choose." (Instructions given twice) -T: *mimes choosing an option in a dramatic/exaggerated manner.* -T: "choose." -T: *signals them to work in pairs* (no words) -Ss will be given the HO. -Ss will listen to the audio (twice) -T: "Check!" (Signals them to work in small groups). -T: *Will give Ss F/B.*

Controlled practice #1 (3-6 minutes) • Further immersing Ss in TL and making them feel confident

-T: *summons 2 Ss with their HOs in their hand and unfolds the HO to reveal the second part of the activity (1b and 2 combined into one to avoid complicating things too much). Signals other Ss to do the same. -T points at one of the places in exercise 1b and signals the summoned students to have a conversation based on the model. -T helps with a sentence or two if necessary. -T: Signals the Ss to imagine they're having a phone conversation, using miming. -Ss will work in pairs.

Highlighting TL (5-6 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

-T: (to a quiet/shy student, adressing them in first name, using eye contact, and gesturing) "Please come here" *Hands over some printed model sentences from the text: Where are you?, Where is she?, Where are they?, etc.* *pointing at the WB (specified spots) and gesturing * "whiteboard, please.", "Thank you." -T: *gestures them to have a seat again* *bows in gratitude* -Ss will listen to the audio again and will be instructed to look at the TL on the WB.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-T: (using gestures) "read, please." -Ss will read aloud the sentences: "where are you?", "I'm at the cinema", "I'm at a café."a couple of times in WC -T: Points at the red (stressed words and tries to elicit correct stress-patterns) -T: "Where are you?" Ss will do a drill

CC#1 (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and make sure that they have the TL understood correctly

-T: "See you soon." *points at a miniature building* "Yes?" -Ss will answer -T: (If wrong answers are given) "No!" *repeats sentence and gesture* "No!" -T: *points at the clock* "(student's name) see you...?" -Ss will probably give the correct answer. -T: *smiles and gives a thumbs up* -T: "See you there." *touches his wrist as if pointing out time on a watch* "Yes?" -Ss will answer "No!" *repeats sentence and gesture* "No!" -T: *points at a miniature building* "(Student's name)..." -Ss will probably give the correct answer this time, as well. -T: *smiles and gives a thumbs up*

Controlled Practice #2 (4-6 minutes) • Preparing Ss to use TL on their own

-T will demonstrate the reading activity's instructions using gestures and pointing at the map and the text. -Ss will work in pairs -T will monitor and help Ss (without echoing;) -Ss will read their answers -T: plays the audio

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with freer practice of the target language

-T: Show them the pg.88 HO, write numbers 1-9 on the board. -T: Mimes choosing in an exaggerated manner. Then mimes secrecy. -T: ICQs "where are you? I am at 5?" *gestures telling* "No! No!
