In this lesson, Ss will do an intensive reading about akternative therapies. Before they read, they will be introduced to some of these alternative therapies. They will read the text followed by a gist and detail reading task. Ss put an end to their intensive reading with a few post reading questions about the text. The lesson will come to an end with a speaking task about changes they would make to their scholl based on some given aspecrs & useful language box.

Stage 1 lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To get Ss interested in topic

Ask Ss : * Is the room you are in now a good place to work? * Do the colors in the room help you feel good? * Are there any aspects of the design that make you feel uncomfortable or stressed? * Which of the following changes in the room where you work would have the most calming effect on you: more natuaral light, brighter colors, darker colors, less background noise, more comfortable furniture, more green plants, natural decoration, pleasant music, fruit and flower smells? anything else? Show Ss the photos about " alternative therapies" on the projector. Elicit what they are? Give Ss the cultural notes handout. In pairs they talk about examples of alternative therapies, Ss open the folded paper and match the terms with their definition. Ss peer check and T put the As on the WB.

Stage 2 (8-10 minutes) • To pre-teach vocabulary

T shows photos on the projector: * essential oils * ergonomics T elicits these words on the WB: * chronic * makeover * low morale * boost * counterbalance * revitalize * stimulate T shows the object in the classrooo: * fluorescent light

Stage 3 (4-5 minutes) • To read for gist

Put the title " the office doctors: an alternative aporoach to fighting stress " Have Ss guess who or what "office doctors" are? Ss read the text quickly. Remind Ss not to mind the gaps. Ss peercheck & WC FB

Stage 4 (4-5 minutes) • Read for details

Have Ss read the sentences in exe. 3 and underline keywords. Ss read the text again to put the sentences into the gaps. Ss peer check & T puts the As on theWB. Help Ss why & what the As are in WC.

Stage 5 (3-5 minutes) • To discuss a few Qs about the text based on Ss' opinion

T gets Ss in to small groups to discuss exe. 4 WC FB

Stage 6 (5-8 minutes) • To speak about what changes they would makd to their school

Ask Ss:" how could you change ITI to make it a healthier place to live in? T gets a few ideas, then T puts Ss in small groups & gives them Speaking handout to discuss exe. 1. T gives Ss some time to prepare ideas. T monitors Ss & takes some note for delayed FB.

Stage 7 (3-5 minutes) • To choose the most realisti & imaginative makeover

T regroups Ss to share ideas with others in order to answer the qus in exe. 2. If time, T does some delayed FB on WB on ertors T noted monitoring.
