In this lesson we start with a photo of a baby girl. We try to guess her name. And then we start talking about their names and meanings of their names. We try to make them motivated about the reading. We skim and scan the reading.Then read the passage detaily and discuss the answers with small groups. We check the answers together. After that let the students complete the lexis alone and then check the answers with small groups. Then personalize the anwers

Subsidiary Aims

  • To review some common collocations e.g. make decision


Warmer/Lead in (4-5 minutes) • To set the context and engage the students.

T will write names on the board and ask the students to express their ideas. T will also make them to raise a consciousness about the current fashion about giving names.

Pre -Reading (4-4 minutes) • To prepare students for the reading

T will give them the HO, make them ready for the reading.Give them extra information about the celebrities.

Skimming/ Scanning (5-8 minutes) • Ss will skim and scan the text and become more familiar with the text

Ss will read alone. Ss will share their questions with the teacher and the friends.

Detailed reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide students detailed reading

Ss will read alone

Answering the CCQ (5-8 minutes) • To check if the Ss understand the text

After the students discuss their answers with their group, they will share it with the class.

Answering the Lexis (5-7 minutes) • To make them learn the vocabulary

Give them time to discuss with their groups. Then ckeck altogether.

Personalizing the answers (3-6 minutes) • To make them more familiar with the context and use the new vocabulary.

Ss will be asked to discuss the Exercise 1, if there is anything suits to them.
