Remembering Names

Description

In this lesson, we will play a remembering game and then read about the ways we can remember others' names easier. Then we will have a matching game and have a talk about the differences between "look and look like".

Main Aims

  • To review and practice lexis related to describing people

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students practice in reading for details in the context of remembering names.

Procedure

Lead in (1 minutes) • To engage students

First I will start with their names and I will ask if they can remember names easily. Then I will give one HO to a pair and they should look at the paper for one minute and try to memorize the names.

Lead in (5-7 minutes) • To engage students

I will stick the same pictures on the walls but without names. I will give the students the names and ask them to match as many names as they remember. Then I get feedback. I will ask about the techniques of remembering names.

Reading for details (6-8 minutes) • To improve students' reading

I will ask students to read the text and match the heading with the paragraphs. I will get feedback by answering for correct headings.

Speaking Activity/ Activation for Reading (8-10 minutes) • To personalize the activity

I will give students HO. There are three questions and the students should share their ideas.

Lexis Practice (12-15 minutes) • To make students familiar with the differences between "look and look like"

I will give the students the HOs. The students are supposed to match the nouns and adjectives with "looks or looks like" . For checking the answers, I will not read the answers. I will give a HO with the correct answers and They will check themselves. I will elicit the rule from students. For feedback, I will ask them to make sentences about the pictures in "lead in" part.
