Procedure

Warmer / Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To activate prior knowledge

I ask ss the following questions: Do you like travelling ? What are the different ways of travelling ? When was the last time you travelled ? How did you travel ? Have you ever been on a plane ? If yes, where did you go ?

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To create a context for the target vocabulary

I tell students about the last time I went home in July this year. As I tell them about my last holiday, I try to elicit the target vocabulary or give the words if ss don't know. I stick pictures of the target vocabulary on the whiteboard

Clarification (10-15 minutes) • To clarify meaning, form and pronunciation of the target vocabulary

I show ss the object in each pictuer the word. After elicitation of each word, I model, drill and highlight the stress. Then I write the word on the board. After that, I elicit the form and collocation

Semi-controlled practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare ss for a freer practice

First, ss match the vocabulary to the pictures and then check answers with their partner. After that they work in pairs and say what's happening in each picture

Freer practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide ss with the opportunity to have freer practice

I stick two pictures on the board. One of a passenger checking in and the other of check-in officer. I clicit dialogue and write it under the correct picture. After that ss work in pairs and have a similar dialogue
