Description

This lesson will focus on a review of adverbs of frequency through the context of keeping in touch.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To review adverbs of frequency – meaning & form - & give the Ss semi-controlled oral practice with them through the context of keeping in touch.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss practice in listening for specific information and in speaking for accuracy and fluency.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

How do you contact your friends?- ask question Ss general feedback.

Pre-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Provide each student a handout which has three people (Adam,Carole, and Sharon) How do they (Adam, Carole, and Sharon) contact their friends?- ask question Ss work in pairs Pairs feedback

While-Reading/Listening #2 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Ask students to listen carefully.

Post-Reading/Listening #2 To check their listening understanding. (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

How many sentences are true for u? ask question Ss' feedback.

Grammar #1&#2 (15-20 minutes) • To extend Ss' ability to the meaning and forms of the adverbs of frequency.

Ex #1: T draw the adverbs' box in board ask Ss find out other adverbs and write in the board in proper place. Ex #2: I (A) contact my friends on by phone B. T draw A and B in one box Decide what adverb goes to position A or B and write it on the board. Check their answers Ex #3: Pairs work:what adverb from ex #1 will make the statement true for u.
