In this lesson, Ss will learn how to use irregular past tense verbs:drank/went/saw/had /ate to describe their last holiday using irregular verbs.

Main Aims

  • To provide students with clarification, review, and practice of irregular verbs to describe their last experience in context of travelling( Holiday

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency practice in which students can use irregular verbs to describe their last holioday

Procedure

stage 1 (5-10 minutes) • lead in (create context)- generate interest for creating context.

-T projects a picture of places: Istanbul/ Antalya/ Bodrum . T elicits the context( travelling? -T also elicits name of places . -T asks students if they travel to these places. E.g Do you travel to Bodrum on holiday? -T asks Ss in-pair to talk about their holidays.

Stage 2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide clarification of simple past irregular verbs.

Teacher has already prepared the WB . -T has divided each WB in two sections A . B . C Each Section includes: (past) and (present). -T before giving cut-ups to students, demos the task. -T divides students in three groups A/B/C,giving cut-ups -T designs a game and asks them to run to the board and placethe cut-ups in right column. -T asks Ss to check each others answer. - T provides answer keys and asks Ss to check their answers with answer keys. ans Tick their right answer and cross their wrong answer. -T runs feedback.

stage 3 (5-10 minutes) • Drilling for form and pronunciation

In this stage, teacher runs choral drilling by examples on the board. -T drills the examples in the most natural way, so SS can get their tongues around and practice . backchaining.

stage 4 (10-15 minutes) • controlled practice of meaning and form

-T instructs Ss and gives handouts for controlled-practice. - T divides Ss in pairs. -T gives each pair one handout asks them to answer the questions in pair. - T asks each pair to check their answers with the neighbor pair. - T runs feed-back and elicits correct answer from peers. -T finally provides the right answer.

Stage 5 (5-10 minutes) • Speaking free-practice

-T pairs students asks to talk about their last holiday. . - - T monitors/ writes down the mistakes they make. .

Stage 6 (2-5 minutes) • Error correction

-T writes down errors Ss made during speaking practice on WB. -T elicits correction in group-work
