Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ss for 2 or 3 min talk about do they have a pet ? do they like to have a pet? describe their favourite pet? instruction: in groups of 3 talk about do u have a pet? do u like to have one? describe it? elicit answers

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

ss will look at the pictures of dogs and decide which one do they like why? in pair. 1 min. preteach owner, find out, mongrel, purebred explain this dog is for me im his owner this dog's parents are the same breed/type. mongrel: mix of different breeds. show the pic two make them understand. CCQ: did i pay money for them? yes is it for me always or for my friend? mine mongrel: parents are the same or different? different /ˈmʌŋɡrəl/ /pjʊəbred/ repetition.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

reading for gist. instruction: read and choose the best title. alone. 1 min. icq: alone or in pair? alone. choose or write the answer? choose. in pair check, elicit answer. and why not other options. write the options on the board. scan reading: read again and in pair work is it T or F. 3 min in pair. icq: alone or pair? pair. check in pair. stand in line face to face. check as a whole class. give ss answer key. or put them on the walls.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

ss will read the text alone and answer these questions. could they match the owners and dog? how? what does the results of the study show? check in group. in a circle. WC elicit answers: for closest meaning. purebred/ owner/ take part/friendly/ simply. ss will find the meaning in pair and part of speech and bring one example. this idea would be simply wonderful.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

read and match explain why. in pair 2 min, then check with another partner. elicit answers. freer practice: what is ur idea? are the owners look like the pets/ why? or are the people look like the environment? how?
