Teaching Practice 4a. Right & Wrong.

Description

In this lesson main aim is vocabulary. It focuses on some of prefixes. Ss will also practice speaking through discussions within the same context of right & wrong.

Main Aims

  • Vocabulary: to provide clarification of some prefixes referring to the concept of right & wrong

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy in the context of right & wrong discussing how language is misued sometimes (e.g. which words do people commonly misspell in your language).

Procedure

(Warmer/ Lead in) (8-10 minutes) • To draw interest warm Ss in lesson topic and provide new vocabulary that can be applied in the context of child care.

- Put two pictures on the board one of a metal cup another is of my niece to tell a short story about how she used to( misuse ) the cup as a chair to sit on. - Ask the Ss if something similar has happened to them or their children or even their friends and that is to wrongly use something. - give the about 2 minutes to discuss in pairs. - Check their answers through FB.

(Stage 2: Pre teaching Vocabulary) (9-11 minutes) • To provide new vocabulary that can be applied in the context of right & wrong

- Ss will listen to 6 Audio clips for gist and try to fathom what the clips are about. - Ss will be given 2-3 minutes to discuss in pairs or groups. - FB is checked. - Try to elicit the 6n words in the vocabulary list (misspell, mishear, misquote, mispronounce. misuse). - Give Ss instructions of a task and that to put each word in the right place in each audio clip. - Give Ss HO containing the six words. - Ss listen to the 6 Audio clips for detail and they will be asked if they want to listen again. - Ss will be given more time to match the words with the audio clips. - FB is checked through peers check. - Answer key is handed to students.

Stage 3: Pracice in words stress (4-6 minutes) • Find out whether the stress is on prefix or root

- Ss will be asked prior to playing a recording to listen to the words and tell where the stress lies on each word of the verb. - Listen to recording 25. - FB is checked through peers check at first then T gives answer key.

Stage 4: (Speaking) (5-7 minutes) • - Ss are able to practice speaking using the prefixex they've just learned.

- Instructions are made to choose 2 questions from the four given to them and discuss in pairs. - Ss are given the HOs and told that they have 5 minutes to discuss in pairs. - FB is checked through T-S interacting
