Description

In this lesson, SS will be engaged in W focused Grammar excersies, developed by a GD related to making statements about the future as predictions , work on productive skills with a writing activity to practise the grammar involved.

Materials

Abc Stage 2 and 3

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed grammar practice from a given text that includes phrases such as "There will be more than one billion people over 60 years old, We won't be able to travel in time, The world may become more dangerous, Scientists might find life on other planets." In the context of the 4th futurological conference highlights.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarifications and practice writing about futuristic expectations .

Procedure

Stage 1 (Lead In) • To introduce the lesson and make the context of the lesson interesting for SS

Write "I will go home early today, I might go home early today" on WB and have SS help with the meaning. Feedback by CCQs: In sentence 1 : Am I asking about the future? Yes Are you sure? Yes In sentence 2 : Am I asking about the future? Yes Are you sure? No Draw a line on WB to Have the students repeat the TL .

Stage 2 (MFP and correcting the mistakes in the sentences) • explain the concept by correcting mistakes in a number of sentences.

Write "I won't go home early today, I might not go home early today" on WB and have SS help with the meaning. Draw SS attention to the pronunciation of "won't". Clear the difference between "want" and "won't". Write the form and pronunciation on WB. Draw SS attention to the pronunciation of "I'll, it'll, there'll , we'll , what'll, you'll". Give SS instructions to do ex1 Pass out HO's for SS to do ex1. Work in groups, and do ex1. Feedback by SS checking answers from the WB.

Stage 3:(Match a phrase in column A with a response in column B ) • to give more student centered activities by a matching sentences.

Give SS instructions to do ex2 Feedback by CCQ's. Pass out HO's for SS to do ex2. Work in groups, and do ex2.

Stage 4:(Writing predictions about the future) • to focus on the productive skills by writing three senteces about predictions.

Form new groups. Give instructions to SS write three sentences. Pass out tags to SS to do the matching. Ask SS to do this individually. Feedback by checking answers with teacher.
