Introduction to family relationships. Studenst will review/learn vocbualry associated with family relationships. They will speak about members of their family. They will do a reading about familes and lable the pictures.

Main Aims

  • To provide review and practice of family vocab in the context of family trees

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide reading practice using a text about family stories in the context of family

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students will use a worksheet and fill in the family tree. They will work in pairs. Test/teach new vocbualary. -Touchstone pg 30 worksheet

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Ask students to : Think abour your imediate family. (You, wife, children) (You, brother/sisters/ mother/father) What do they look like? What do they do? Share with your group.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

With your partner match the story to the picture.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Read again and lable the pcitures with the people's name.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Studenst create their own imdeiate family tree and write simple present sentences about each person.
