In the same time, explain some difficult words for the students with the help of the pictures, gestures and some drawings on the W.B. e.g. Torjans, gate, trophy, torchpair the students have now a general idea about the texts and are about to read.
In order to provide the sts with gist and specific information, I guide them to read the text and look for the answer for the below questions: 1. what is the gift in each passage 2. who give it to whom. through these questions, sts skim the text quickly in order to get the main idea in each passage and look for some details in the same time.
In this stage, sts will look for more details in the text. sts read the text again and try to answer the questions on activity 1 page 12. Then get the feedback and let the sts correct each other. I`ll interfere when necessary. Answers as follow: 1. 1-c ~ 2-d ~ 3-a~ 4-b 2. They were given by one country to another. 3. They all feature animals. 4. The Trojan horse. Deal with some assumed difficult words & expressions in the track and try to elicit them from the sts. e.g. occasions, negative meaning, wrap a gift, ... etc WHILE LISTENING: The sts are supposed to answer activity 3 p 13 for gist then deal with act 4 p 13 for a more detailed understanding.
