Description

The teacher will start the lesson by brainstorming about the phrase "father and son". After students are finished with brainstorming, they are supposed to do a pre-reading activity where they can answer several questions before reading the text. In while reading section 1, the students will read the text and take down useful notes to answer the questions in fact-finding exercise. After they are finished with reading the text, the students are supposed to write "true" or "false" for the statements in the exercise and correct "false" ones. Finally, students check their answers with their partners and the teacher provide the correct answers for students. In while reading section 2, the students read the text one more time on their own and they are supposed to guess the meanings of the words written in bold. The teacher asks students to use a dictionary if they have any difficulty in guessing the meanings of the words. After they are finished with answering the questions related to vocabulary, the teacher asks students to compare their answers with their partners. At this time, students are expected to discuss the meanings of the words written in bold. Then, the teacher provides the correct answers and clarifies the meanings of the words written in bold. In post reading section, the students answer four questions related to the text by taking into consideration the useful notes they have taken while reading. When they finish answering the questions, they check the answers first with their partners and then with the teacher.
