Description

In this lesson, the students will continue to learn about animals and practice their pronunciation and spelling through drilling. In addition, the students will have listening practice and will check their listening comprehension through a short mini quiz. The students will then complete pages 5,6,7 in their i-dictionary workbooks. If time permits, the students will play a game.

Main Aims

  • TSWBAT to correctly spell and pronounce the animal names to 95% accuracy.

Subsidiary Aims

  • TSWBAT correctly answers questions to a story about Grandpa John to 90% accuracy.
  • TSWBAT correctly answers the questions in their workbook to 90% accuracy based off their prior knowledge to 90% accuracy.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Bell Work: LAWS (Language And Writing Skills) The students will brainstorm information about the Panda bear. The students will write their answers in their notebooks and we will go over them to check their ideas. This will provide the students with the opportunity to talk and write.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

- The students will practice their pronunciation and spelling skills. - The students will listen to the word and repeat it twice and then spell it correctly.

Language Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

- The students will sing the song and practice the vocabulary they did in the previous stage.

Planning (3-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice listening skills

- The students will listen to the story about Grandpa John.

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to display what they heard from the story

- The students will answer questions from the story about Grandpa John.

Workbook (6-8 minutes) • To allow further practice with the vocabulary using the workbook

- The Students will complete pages 5,6,7 in i-Dictionary. - The Students will work in pairs for page 6.

Closing (7-10 minutes) • To allow further practice with the vocabulary using a game

-The finish the lesson and allow the students to check their understanding of the vocabulary. The students will play a matching game to practice the vocabulary.
