Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice from two conversations that includes vocabulary and phrases such as " , , " in the context of making a suggestion or an invitation.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of vocabulary including " "in the context of making suggestions and invitations.

Procedure

Stage 1 (Lead In) (3-5 minutes) • To introduce the lesson and make the context of the lesson interesting for the SS.

- post a photo of a famous celebrity on the WB - ask the SS if they know the person in the picture. And what they know about him. - ask the SS if they like to meet the person in the picture. And what would they do. - The SS work in groups , and make a list of 3 famous people they would like to meet.

Stage 2 (Vocabulary introduction) (3-5 minutes) • To provide new vocabulary that can be applied in the context of suggesting and invitations.

- Post pictures of 4 people talking on the phone and their names on WB. - Establish the characters. - give the SS the gist. - listen for the conversation. - get feed back

Stage 3 (Listen and answer the question) (7-10 minutes) • To provide a controlled listening practice for specific information

- Write the question on the WB - Listen and answer - play again - SS check each others answers in their groups. - Get feedback from SS.

Stage 4 (Listen and choose the correct answer) (7-10 minutes) • To provide a controlled listening practice for specific information

- Write the four possible answers. - Listen and answer - play again - SS check each others answers in their groups. - Get feedback from SS.
