Description

In this lesson students will listen to a listening about messages and they are going to talk about their messages and if they send a lot of messages in a day or not.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about messages

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of family

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

students will talk in group about how do you communicate usually? face to face or a call or message?. which one do they use alot? why? do they send a lot of message during the day? to whom? what do they send? what message did you send and get today? in group of 3 talk for 2 min. elicit ss answers.

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible

teacher will elicit message for electrical voice. what do they say? example: this is fateme speaking....this is a message for..... hey are you there, pick up the phone... students will listen and choose the name. who they are from? ICQ: are u going to match the names with messages? yes alone or pair? alone check in pair. T will write the answers on the board or give the ss answer key. 1-Margaret 2-boss 3-ex boyfriend 4- her sister 5- Fatima's mom 6- father 7- Fatima 8- her mom

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

give ss time to read the questions 1 min. listen and answer the questions alone. check in group. teacher will write the answers on the board while they are checking in pair.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

make a list of what they asked Wanda to do. listen and add to your list. complete it. check with your partner.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

what do you do if you were Wanda. talk in your group and choose one best solution. send a message to s.o write it on the paper. on paper. stand up read the messages and guess whose message is that? feedback, error correction.
