Description

In this lesson, The students will practice their listening and speaking skills in the context of travel plans and travel essentials. In the pre- listening stage, they will learn and practice some vocabulary. In the while listening stage, they will practice listening for specific information and listening for details. In the post-listening stage, They will practice speaking for fluency with an integrated activity.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher enters the class wearing his sunglasses and a hat. He is also carrying a suitcase in his hands. He has his passport in his pocket as well. He asks students "what am I doing?, where am I going?" He tries to elicit some vocabulary about holiday, travel and travel essentials from the students. He asks some questions about holidays and tries to get some answers from the students.

Pre-Listening (10-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The students match the vocabulary with the pictures, they check their answers in pairs. The teacher makes them listen to the answers. The teacher drills the pronunciation of some vocabulary.

While-Listening #1 (5-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students listen to the first part of a conversation and answer the question

While-Listening #2 (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students listen to the rest of the conversation and answer the questions and then they compare their answers in pairs. The teacher checks and shows the answers to the whole class.

While- Listening #3 (7-10 minutes) • To provide listening practice for details

The students answer the questions given and then they listen to the conversation again and check their answers

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students will make a holiday plan in pairs and they will talk about their travel plans and travel essentials. They will share their opinions about travel plans and what they will need for such a travel.
