B1 level

In this lesson, the SS revise the patterns they learned in the last term through a speaking activity. After the warm-up exercise, the SS work in pairs and the teacher elicits examples of the languages forms (prompts on the SB) from the SS. Then, with different pairs, the SS prepare a dialogue by using the prompts on the SB and then present them to the whole class.

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of future tenses in the context of weekend activities

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher divides the board into two coloumns headed favourite activities and the least favourite activities. He gives examples of his own. Then he gives the SS pairs two minutes in order for them to list their favourite and least favourite activities.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

The teacher puts the SS into different pairs and asks them to focus their attention on the prompts on the sixth activity of Gold Experience page 7. Then, he elicits examples with the language forms and writes them on the smartboard if necessary.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The teacher revises the rules of using the language models with the students and clarifies the grammatical forms.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

After the clarification, the teacher changes the pairs again and asks them to prepare dialogues by using the language forms on the smartboard. The SS prepare them in 5 minutes and then some of the pairs present their dialogues in front of the class.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

If the time permits and there are some mistakes in the language forms that the SS have used in the dialogues, the teacher gives some feedback and writes the wrong sentences or phrases on the smartboard and tries to elicit the correct forms.
