Description

In this lesson, the SS revises the patterns they learned through a reading passage. The reading passage focuses on using a blog or online noticeboard. So, the teacher starts the warm up session by showing the icons, website views of different blogs and online noticeborads and tries to ellicit the word noticeboard from the SS. Then, the SS the noticeboard from the smart borad of the class and then they work in pairs and try to answer the warmup questions. Next, the students change their pairs and then they work together to guess the answers of the next exercise on the board. After that, in groups of three or four, they try to remember a specific kind of information without looking at the pictures provided.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of language used for past tense forms in the context of online noticeboard

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher shows the website screenshots and icons of different blog sites or online noticeboards and tries to elicit the word (noticeboard) from the students

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher asks the SS what they can find on a blog website or an online noticeboard, whether they have a blog site, whether they know one or not.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The SS do a scanning exercise here, they try to answer some questions merely by looking at the questions and reading specific points in the text. While answering the questions, they work with their pairs.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The SS change their pairs with the help of the teacher and they focus on detailed reading and try to find the answers of 10 different comprehension questions

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

In groups of four or three, the SS try to remember some specific information through a speaking exercise. This exercise will be more like a game and the group who has remembered the most words will be the winner.
