Description

In this lesson, the students will learn how to introduce themselves, ask one an other`s name and learn the names of the animals. The lesson starts with a vocabulary game (crossword puzzle) where they review names of the animals they`ve learned prior and ends up with two listening activities:

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of introducing themselves

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The T while greeting the SS makes sure all they manage to introduce themselves. The T asks the SS about their favorite animals which will serve as a transition to the next topic,

Test #1 (10-11 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The SS will be shown a crossword puzzle that the T projects on the board. The SS deduce the animal names suggested by numbered images and then write them into the appropriate boxes correspondingly, The T double checks the SS accuracy and fluency while pronouncing and writing the names. The T as well as the peers can assist the SS who struggle with the spelling.

Extra practice (4-6 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

The SS finish the two task in the books (E and F page 7 ) İn pairs, The SS swap answers and correct each other. The T makes sure the answers are correctly spelled and pronounced.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

The T starts The second part of the lesson by asking the SS to rapidly do page 8 of the coursebook where they make names of various things out of scrambled letters. The T checks the answers. The SS listen to an audio passage and answer the already-given questions.

Free practice (7-9 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The lesson ends up with a fun listening activity The T plays the audio record in which the speaker gives instructions on how to set lines to draw a given image. The SS listen and draw lines between letters and numbers.
