Description

In this lesson students will learn about the use of different adjectives in the right order . We will start the lesson by listing some names of famous people with jobs and some acts about them , we start by controlled practice and we finish by the free practice by having the students choose their own famous person and describing him .

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a sentence in the context of famous people

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As a warmer , I will ask the students if they know some local Turkish people and food , I will choose things that every one in the class know in order to highlight the meaning of'' famous'' Then with a hang man game we will elicit the adjective Famous since its the key word for the rest of the activities .

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • Guided discovery

in this stage i will show pictures of famous people with their names and I will get the students guess their jobs which I will give to them written in pieces of paper , and invite them to get on the board to match them together .later I will post on the boards flags of the countries and students are invited as well to match every person with his nationality .Then we will give him an adjective like good , handsome , young Now we have the job of the person , his nationality and an adjective which describes him . Students are invited to focus on the order of the adjectives .

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

We will take one local famous person as an example (Tarkan )and introduce some adjectives with order as an example . Then students are encouraged to work in pairs and to choose one example from the famous people on the board and write a sentence about him where they use the adjectives order .

controlled practice (5-8 minutes) • Practise

İ will give the learners exercise where they have to put the adjectives in the right order .

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students will be divided in two groups A and B Group A will have information about the famous people on the board without their names while group B has the names. Then students are asked to find their partner . This task aims to form information about the famous which paves the way for the next writing activity .

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • writing To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

In this stage every pair will write a sentence about a famous person without name and they will exchange with each others and try to guess who is the famous person

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are asked to talk about their favorite model or leader to their friends using the ordered adjectives about him then they have to state why they love him or her .
