Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show two pictures of any two people and ask the students to write about them any three sentences. Go around and check what they are writing .Pick the sentences and write next to the pictures.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ask students to correct the mistakes in the sentences . provide help where it is needed. Ask them to complete exercise 1 on page 21.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

-Discuss with them what they are and what is the general rule. I am Carlos. You are Omar They are boys. We are people. ( show contractions by using fingers and writing on the board she is 18. he is a doctor Rule 1 We use is /are after personal pronouns Rule 2: His bag is beautiful. Her house is big We use a noun after His /her /their/our/my etc to show possession. Choose only four sentences to practice. Follow the sequence Meaning through CCQs,Form ,pronunciation.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Give them exercises 1 and 2 to check whether they understood or not.Divide the class in four groups 2 in boys and 2 in girls and give them names .The give each group separate question and tell them that they have to tell the other group .The better they do the more points they score. the time for the task is 5 min -T will monitor and help if needed -teacher takes feed back by checking what the students are doing and records the mistakes . Teacher lets the group merge and discuss their questions they have 5 min to clarify their findings and answers. -T gives feed back by displaying the answers.

Test 3 (3-4 minutes) • to check the understanding for verb be

T will ask the students to tell her what is verb Be? T gives thinking time to students . Teacher writes two sentences on the board I am /m a student. Muza cooks food . Students discuss and find out Teachers gives feed back

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

T explains the verb be by giving three examples Follow the order Meaning through CCqs,Form and structure) I am a student pr+ verb be+noun phrase He/she is a doctor. pronoun+ verb be+ a noun phrase They/we are Omanis . ( let the students complete the last one.) The drill at the end .Show how we write contractions Add not to show negative and show how to make questions . take the same examples.Page 22 Ask the students to do exc 5 in groups. T takes feed back after they compare answers in groups.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T asks the students to talk about one member in the family. T gives the headings name, age ,occupations/job,family,country /city,hobbies,free time activities, future plans,etc -T tells the sts to use the newly learnt vocabulary and use correct pronouns and possessive adjectives.(Accuracy) students work in pairs. Teacher takes feed back
