Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan and detailed reading practice using a text about Managing my time in the context of time

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice vocabulary in the context of time.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

●T will set the context by saying "I have a problem with remembering my appointments, what about you? - Instruction: Discuss "in pairs" / Period: 2 min. Q.1 How do you remember appointment, birthday ..etc?) Q.2 Do you usually do everything you plan to do every day? - SS guess the topic of the lesson and T elicit some answers and write the title on WB.

Pre-Reading (6-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

- T will give SS matching handouts. Instruction: Match the each vocabulary with its definition. "in pairs" (3 min) ICQ: Are you going to work individually? (No, in pairs) - SS check the answers in group, and T elicit the correct answer. - WC feedback (if needed). T will check SS understanding of the vocabulary, elicit some answer to explain the meaning, and drill the pronunciation. - SS guess the topic of the lesson and T elicit some answers and write the title on WB.

While-Reading # 1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/tasks

-T will ask SS to read the text for gist. Instruction: Read the text and give the general idea of the text " in pairs" during "5 min" ICQS: Are you going to read for specific info ? (No). -SS will check the answers in group, then T will write the correct answers on board (if needed).

While-Reading # 2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide practice reading for details.

- T will ask SS to read the text and answer the question Instruction: Read the text and match the heading to tips in pairs "5 min" -SS will check the answers in group, then T will write the correct answers on board (if needed).

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

● T will ask SS to discuss questions in Ex. 2d Q1. Which of the tips surprised you? why Q2. Which do you already do? Q3. Which don't you think would be useful? why not? - Instruction: Please discuss these questions as " WC" - ICQ: Are you going to discus these questions one student or with all class? (With all class)

If -times allows (3-5 minutes) • To provide practice reading for scanning.

-T will give SS cut up collocation from the workbook. - SS will answer in pairs " 5 min" and check in group.
