TP.5 - Jobs, Work Vocabulary

To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of jobs
To provide clarification and practice of work in the context of jobs
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
Show pictures to students and drill. Put the pictures on whiteboard and tell ss to close their eyes. Pick one of the photos and ask ss to look at the whiteboard and tell the missing job. Drill if necessary. Write a sentence on WB and ask ss to find the missing words to complete the sentence.
Hand out the photocopies and let students read the quote. Ask ss discuss what they understand from it about the jobs in the US. Ask ss to compare this with Turkey. Put Ss into groups of 4 and tell them to choose 3 best jobs and 3 wors jobs for them and discuss it in their groups.
Ss work individually. Tell ss to look at related part of the page, pg54.Vocabulary, and tell them to replace the underlined words with the words given. Feedback whole class. Put Ss into groups. Tell ss to discuss questions in second part of the same activity.
Get ss attention to the title and the picture on pg 55. Ask Ss what they think. Put Ss in pairs and let them answer the questions on pg 54. ex.1. When they finised take feedback, then ask them to read the circles on pg 55. Tell ss to read the whole text and answer the questions on pg.54 in the reading part.
T. hands out a sheet. Ss match answers with questions. Then T. tells students to get up and ask the same questions as many people as possible and take notes. When Ss finished T. asks Ss if any of answers were interesting. Takes feedback
