Description

In this lesson student will talk about '' Unusual Food Festivals'' which they also have in their country. They are familiar with the topic. The lesson will start by showing some pictures whıch they belong to the festivals in the book. They will guess what are these ? what kind of festivals? ın pairs they will talk about it. vocabulary parts that we will do in the class. first they are going to find where they are in the text and then their similar meanings which are written next to them. last part of the lesson is a speaking activity: the SS will talk about the same subject and also the food festivals in their own country and recommending a foreigner their own food.

Main Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about Unusual Food Festivals in the context of Food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of food

Procedure

warm up (3-5 minutes) • to engage ss in the lesson.

First T will show them some pictures about the context and they will discuss about them in pairs. After they finish I will elicit some answers to get the main idea.

pre reading (5-8 minutes) • to engage ss in the lesson and idea to learn where and when they see these fests.

T will give them only 2 questions about the topic. Where and when do these festivals take place ? They will read quickly -scan reading- and answer the questions. Exercise 2 will be done here. there are 6 words which are related to the topic and written in the text. before they read they only guess in which festival they can see these.

reading (3-5 minutes) • to get the main idea of the context

T will tell the ss read the text detailed. After they read every detail about the subject they are ready to speak about it. Because they know everything about the context. while they are reading the unknown words which could be more this time will be told by the teacher.

vocabulary (5-8 minutes) • to make them guess the meanings first

In vocabulary part T will give them the vocabs in ex 2 . there are 5 words which are bolded. the ss will guess where they are in the text in which festival. T will check with whole class. ın the second part of vocab in ex 3 : there are 10 words bolded and written in text they will guess the meanings and underline the correct alternative.

speaking (8-10 minutes) • to make them speak about the context

Ex: 4 will be done here. T will give the questions which are writtn in the exercise. They will speak about them in pairs. they will speak about our context and also the food festivals that they have in their own country and the festival that they want to attend. the last question is good for our teacher group because we have 3 foreigners. ıt is about the food that they can recommend. While they are speaking my monitoiring will be high to correct their grammar or vocabulary ,pronunciation mistakes. They could ask some words which could help them to make accuracy well , I will help them. When they finish I will listen to their answer but not all of them not make waste my time just 2 3 sts will be ok for this exercise.
