Ss learn vocabulary of places like (market,bank... )throughout flashcards practice There is/There are and There isn't /There aren't. including ''any'' The lesson starts with the context and with flashcards they learn the vocabualry.They repeat it via listening.The Ss have fill in the gaps activity.They will hve a chance of practicing the TL by asking questions to each other in pairs on the handout given.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of ''Is there a/are there any?'' in the context of the reasons why they like İstanbul or not.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To support the grammar point via name places.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead In (3-4 minutes) • To review negative forms of ''There is/There are''

T asks '''What do you like in İstanbul? Ss answer. Relate Ss' answers with to the places in İstanbul and say these places in there is /there are form. Ask ''Is there a nice park in istanbul?'' ''Are there nice resaturants in İstanbul?'' Answer in both positive and negative form.

Matching activity (3-4 minutes) • To give a basic understanding of some place names.

Show flashcards of places. They repeat after T. They stick the word cards under the suitable pictures.

Listening (1-2 minutes) • To give correct pronunciation and intonation via Audio listening.

Ss will listen and repeat the record.

Pair work (3-4 minutes) • To review vocabulary

Via the handouts given,Ss ask each other and answer: A: ''What is picture 3?'' B: ''It's a road.''

Listening (3-4 minutes) • To find main topics in a conversation.

Show them photo of Two girls. Ask Ss who each girl is. Say they are talking about: 1-Susan's flat 2-restaurants 3-shops 4-trains&buses 5-banks First they talk about Susan's flat This is number 1. Find number 2. number 3. number 4 & 5 They listen to track and find the order of the topics.

Listening (3-4 minutes) • To ensure Ss can match what they hear and what they see.

Ss listen again and choose the correct words.Then they compare answers in pairs.

Gap fill activity (1-1 minutes) • To make sure if grammar is understood

Write isn't and aren't on WB, Ask Ss to fill in the gaps. Ask Ss to check in pairs.

Gap fill activity (1-1 minutes) • To ensure Ss can identify question,answer,negative and positive

Grammar Analysis (1-1 minutes) • To ensure TL is comprehended.

Tell Ss to choose the correct option (some or any)

Semi-controlled practice (15-20 minutes) • To get Ss make their own questions and answers and use them in a dialogue

Stick a house picture on WB. Show a bank picture. Ask:Is there a bank near your home?-Yes there is a cinema near my home Are there any hotels?-No there aren't any hotels near my home One by one they choose a picture and show it to the class. The student who gives the correct answer replaces the questioner. Next,they stand up and keep asking questions. randomly
