Description

In this lesson, ss will mainly practice vocabulary, speaking and listening.Ss will learn new vocabulary related to tools used for babies. (Nappy, bib, baby seat...) It is also an opportunity for some SS who already knows some of the vocabulary will reinforce their vocabulary. A phrase "bringing up a child" will be elicited, it is followed by pre-teach vocabulary to set the lesson context and engage students to this topic.The SS will talk about their personal experiences.

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Commando Dad
  • To provide clarification

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give Ss freer speaking practice for using vocabulary related to life events to help them their spoken fluency

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss will study as a group at the beginning of the lesson. WARM-UP activity. DO YOU KNOW THE WORD 'GOSSIP'?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage, SS will be taught new vocabulary by the using of some photos. Ss will try to guess what the picture is. Teacher ask some CCQ to check their understanding of the use or meaning of the target vocabulary. Nappy, Powder,Tissue, bib, spoon... Teacher drills the words. Teacher also writes word stress and part of the speech

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The teacher will give a hand out which includes some general question. The teacher will ask Ss to think about the topic.

Post-Reading/Listening (4-6 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The teacher will ask Ss to stand up and match the words on board. And then, T will ask Ss to check their answers, firstly in pairs, then WC T will monitor Ss while checking. Error-correction if necessary.
