Description

In this lesson, students will learning about quantifiers. They will be learning about the different types of meanings for each word, by doing some challenging tasks. Students will also touch on countable and uncountable nouns.

Main Aims

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know all about quantifiers by doing a selection of activities.

Subsidiary Aims

By the end of the lesson, students will have practiced their receptive and productive skills, by applying grammar rules in their activities.

Procedure (45 minutes)

Warmer/Lead-in (0-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To start the lesson, I will first play hangman to elicit the words from the students.

Task One (0-8 minutes) • To check the students knowledge

Students will be given a fill in the gaps handout. Students will use the words from the box to try and complete the sentences. The students will then listen to the recording to check their answers.

Task two (0-5 minutes) • Students will underline countable and uncountable nouns.

Students will underline countable and uncountable nouns. Teacher will check with the WC.

Task Three (0-9 minutes) • To continue with the analysis part of the lesson.

The students will then discuss and write down which of the quantifiers are used with countable or uncountable nouns. The teacher will check with the WC. Refer to grammar analysis.

Task four (0-10 minutes) • Students discuss a set of questions.

Students will be put into pairs and each pair will receive a set of questions. In their pairs they will discuss the difference of each sentence. The teacher will check the answer with WC.

Task five (0-10 minutes) • Students create sentence by using quantifiers.

Students are then going to create 12 sentences using the practice activity. The teacher will go around the room and monitor. The students will then mingle around the room and tell each other about what they wrote.The teacher will then check the students sentences.
