I ask students some questions about shopping; do you like shopping? Which malls do you go for shopping? How often do go shopping every week? Do make a list before shopping?
I teach students new words using flash cards. I present them in the context of a shop. I teach them how to pronounce these words and and where the stress falls. I do CCQs to check their understanding. Then students listen to the words and practice the new vocabularies.
Students listen to a conversation between a shop assistant and a customer. Then they fill in the gaps with the correct price. They check in pairs. This exercise represents a suitable context for to next grammar item
I explain how to use this, that, these and those using them with real objects.I also employ the vocabularies I have already presented. I ask student to produce their own sentences. Then we turn to a group work in which each group produces at least ten sentences using the target grammatical item.
Students have four pictures and the same number of sentences. The sentences present different contexts. Students fill in the gaps with one of the four words; this; that; these and those.
