Description

In this lesson students will focus on power and money thanks to a more specific context related to the masters of the universe. The students will be learning about the grammar part of the lesson. The main concept of the lesson focuses on causatives, so the students will be doing different activities related to that.

Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will be able to know the difference between I got my hair cut and had my hair cut by someone.

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will have practiced their productive skills applying the grammar rules in the specific context of the masters of the universe.

Procedure

Warmer/ Lead-In (3-5 minutes) • To set the less context and engage the students

To start the lesson, I will giving the students a game to start the lesson context. The aim of the game is for the students to collect matching pairs of request and reply cards.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation.

Students will be given information about causatives. The teacher will demonstrate and show the students all about causatives and why and how we use the grammar and in what context following the game they played. We will discuss it and then the students will be given some sentences that they will discuss in small groups or pairs.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language.

Students will work individually to change 6 sentences. This keeps the students focused on the target language and the context

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language.

CCQ: -Did she cut her own hair? No -Who cut it? the hairdresser -Did she arrange to go to the hairdresser? Yes. -Are we talking about the past? Yes -Do they get paid or voluntary? Paid

Visual Understanding (1-2 minutes) • Students will watch the trailer of Richie Rich.

In this video, students will have a visual understanding of the concept and it will keep them focused on the target language.

Semi-Controlled Practice? (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for freer practice

Students are given a set of question sot answer. For example: What other things would you like to have done for you? Would this make you happy? They discuss in the pairs and then give an answer to the class.

Free Practice (0-4 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language.

Following the previous activity, the students then write down three things that they would like to have done for them.
