Description

In this lesson, students learn about writing through a guided means of writing short practical requests and reminders. The lesson start with an introduction, students to look at the photos on the WB and establish or think who they are, what they know or feel about them.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start by writing the target language which is 'writing'' on the WB and then place some flash card photos of people or family writing, mailing or sending messages online. Ask the student to look at the photos and establish who are the people they saw on the photo. they should talk in pairs about what: What are they doing? what style are they using?

Exposure (8-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Start by introducing the context clearly on the center of the WB which is 'Writing''.Ask student when was the last time they wrote to someone and to who?. Ask the to students to talk about things they do when writing and call out different ways or things they can put to writing. As they call i will write it down on the WB.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will put student into group and focus them on the HO to look at the written mails and ask them to discuss. And ask some CCQ questions e.g Who wrote the mail? Is the mail a request or reminders? who are the mail sent to?

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I'II pair and focus them on the handout to read and complete the expressions and ask student to stand up and stick the right verb words in each expression on the board e.g Reply to an email Take someone to the airport Cancel a meeting.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Put students into group and ask them to write a short note maybe on Cancel a meeting Book a table at the restaurant Take someone to school. Then ask some CCQ questions e.g Who are they to? And why?
