In this lesson , students are going to learn about the internet words and websites and why do people use the internet , They are going to answer a questionnaire about what do people usually do online . After that they are going to listen to an interview with Alice to learn what does she use the internet for . At the end , students are going to practice speaking while asking about their partners' purpose of using the internet

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of internet words in the context of using the internet and why do people use the internet

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a questionnaire about the internet and what do people usually use the internet for.


Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students To talk about their favorite website and why do they use the internet for

I'll write the word internet on the WB and let students speak in pairs about it . I'll ask the students questions about their favourite website and how often they use the internet. I'll ask them about their purpose of using the internet . Is it for work / study / chat / search for information

Test #1 (5-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language while doing a questionnaire about things people do online . This stage will test their knowledge of internet words such as send, receive, online, book,... ,

Students in this controlled exercise are asked to fill in the gaps using internet - related words, They have to think about the meaning of the words and put them in the right sentence . They will work in pairs to do the exercise and then check their answers WC .

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Students are asked to speak about the purposes of using the internet .They have to know some websites use and they have to use the words in sentences. In this stage I'm gonna pre-teach some new words such as receive , online , book ,..., considering MFP, drill some difficult words ,and provide the students with the written record of the sentences . In exercise 2 , they have to decide on the purpose of some familiar websites.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students on this stage are going to make their own list about reasons of using the internet . Then there are going to listen to a an interview with Alice . After that , they have to put a tick or cross the information about her in the questionnaire and then answer the questions about her use of the internet . I'm going to give the students an answer key to check their answers

semi- controlled practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the target language and their aims of using the internet

Students are going to practice speaking in a semi - controlled exercise about using the internet , asking their partners about their use of the internet then speak about their partner to the class or to a new partner
