In this particular lesson, the students will say what they can do with their bodies, listening to instructions and practice the phrases with modal verb `can`.

Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Talking about their body parts and what they can do with their body parts ' at the end of the lesson, the students should be able to talk about their body parts and what they can do with theiir body parts. in the context of Ability- Modal verb

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher does some modelling about the actions and the collocations that the students will see in the classroom. The teacher will ask `What am I doing right now?` Then the students will process what they see and answer the question. After that, the teacher will put all the collocations on the board and write `I can wash my face..`' , `I can wash my hands...`; ` I can brush my hair...`' `I can brush my teeth`...etc etc

Pre-Reading/Listening (4-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher will start the recording and the listening activity. The students will have the small pics for themselves and whenever they hear something on the recording `I can wash my face!` ` I can wash my hands` ` ` I can brush my teeth` ` I can brush my hair`...The students will hold the small pictures on their hands when they hear the sentences on the recording. They will work on their own when they hear the sentences.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (6-9 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher plays the song, `heads ' shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes`, and everyone sings the song together. They stand up and do the TPR activities together. After that, The teacher has a hand out about the body parts, the teacher gives the handout to the students. The text has all the different body parts on the paper, and the students will work on the body parts on their own, after that they will stand up, and check their answers as in pairs. After checking their answers, the teacher models and demonstrates the game to the students. Each time the teacher plays the music, and says a sentence like this ` two hands together`, ` two foot together`, ` two arms toteher`...etc etc etc

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students will get questions on the board and they ask questions to each other. `How many arms do you have?` ` How many legs do you have? ` ` How many noses do you have?` They talk to each other about this and then if thee is time, they do workbook exercises.
