In this lesson , ss learn about Gerunds and infinitives through a text guided discovery based on a text . The lesson starts with a guessing acitivity in the context of fame and wealth .This is followed by an exposure to the TL through the text. Then a pair-work activity aiming at guiding the ss to dicover the form and the meaning of the TL, followed by a clarification . The ss are then , set in pairs for a controlled activity . Finally , there is a speaking task based on a conversation .

Warmer/Lead-n (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- stick pictures on the board - ask ss if they recognise any of the people in the pictures and if there is a something common between them. - elicit answers - show the ss the quotes one by one and make them guess which quote belongs to which celebrity . - explaining briefly new vocabulary : prevent , recognise , achieve, and immortality .

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

-write 2 sentence examples from the quotes on the borad : 1- '' Being a star was never as much fun as dreaming of being one '' 2- '' I dont want to achieve immortality through my work .'' - underline the gerund and the infinitive and ask the ss if they know what are they. - elicit answers from the ss - use CCQs to check the understanding of the concept .

Clarification (7-9 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- set students in pairs - give them handout 2 and tell them they will have to look for examples from the quotes . - monitor and help if necessary - WC feedback and more clarification .

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- set ss in pairs - ask them to do the gap- fill g exercice - monitor and help if necessary - once they finish , ss exchange their sheets and check each other's works - give answer key handout

Free Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- set ss in pairs - ask them to look through the questions in the previous task and start a conversation asking each other questions - monitor and take notes of errors - feedback and delayed error correction
