Description

In this lesson students will learn about the use of future forms through guided discovery. Students are given questions to test their understanding of the future forms. Teacher explains any confusion. Students then practice using them through an activity at the end of the lesson.

Materials

Abc CD player -course book -HO with Q1 -Ho with Q2

Main Aims

  • To understand the different future forms and how are they used in discussing plans and arrangements.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Practice in pronunciation of common pairs of words.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • Language clarification

Teacher asks Ss to listen to CD track1.44 again & gives students HO1 with three questions and asks them to discuss in pairs . Meanwhile the teacher writes the sentences on the white board.After 3 mins T discuss with the Ss the answers.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • Test students understanding of the future form (will, going and present progressive)

Teacher gives HO2 and asks students to answer individually. After 3 mins check in pairs. Then the teacher checks the whole class after listening to CD .

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of misunderstanding the students had in the first stage.

Teacher explains any misunderstanding.

Pronunciation practice (8-10 minutes) • Drilling stress and conetected speech.

Teacher plays CD track 1.47 and asks students to write the sentences as they hear. Check in pairs. Then students listen to CD again and practice with teacher how to say "going to - want to - have to - at the - to the - for the" then the whole class practices the sentences.

Free practice (9-10 minutes) • Test understanding through a speaking activity.

Teacher groups the Students into groups of three and names them A,B,C within the group. Teacher explains the activity that A calls B to ask for help. B says he can't help and gives a reason. B calls C about the problem. C offers to help. C calls A and explains how he can help. Each group has a different problem. In each group the Students change roles, so that each Student practices the A,B and C role. Teacher monitors during the activity and takes notes. After all Ss have practiced the different roles the T gives FB on common mistakes .
