Main Aims

  • To provide practice of asking and answering information questions in the context of an interview

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of language used for in introducing oneself and asking questions to someone you have just met.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-have ss think about the last time they met someone knew. -what questions did you ask them? -work in groups and talk about 5 questions you can ask. -choose 5 to write down -compare with the whole class T-make corrections

Useful Language- Question formation, information questions (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

-groups share their answers -teacher makes corrections as needed and writes the correct answers on the board

Productive Task(s)-Interview (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

-as a group select 5 questions you want to ask your classamtes and write them on the worksheet -use the worksheet and interview 3 different classmates, write down their answers -choose the person you have the most in common with and tell the class why T-listen to the conversation-make notes on TL of information questions/asnwers

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-write problems up on the board and work as a class to correct, and clarify WHY
