In this lesson, students will learn new vocabularies in the context of traveling and holiday. They will mime the words to memorize better and for freer practice they will ask questions with the new words about the themselves .

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of action words in the context of travel and last holiday

  • to provide fluency speaking in the form of conversation in the context of traveling and holiday


lead in (8-12 minutes) • To get the students familiar with the topic

T starts with greeting. T talks briefly about her holiday. " remember last session ? what did we talk about ?Last year I went to Mexico. Do you think I liked it?" T puts pictures of the story on the board and asks for one single word for each picture then she asks Ss to guess the order of events in her the story . T asks Ss and puts the pics in order that Ss say even if they are not correct.

Lexis Teaching (10-12 minutes) • To make clarifications on the new words

T gives them the text with blanks and also gives them small pics of the words to match with the text. T asks Ss to try to match the pics with the text. T monitors to see how weaker Ss are doing . T asks CCQs and then drills the words. Steal: was I looking at the thief? Did hut put S.th in my bag or take? Rush : Do I go slowly? Twist: is it good thing or bad? was I happy? Did I have pain? point: do you move to that place or just stand still? whisper: do I speak loud? Am I far or near? T drills. T shows pics and asks different Ss to say the words. T will demo mime game. In groups of 3 Ss will do miming with small sets of cards.

Post task activity (7-12 minutes) • To help the students practice fluency speaking about holiday using new words

T will write " when was the last time you cried" on the board and will demo the activity with some Ss. Then each S will have a card and they will stand up and mingle asking Qs starting :when was the last time......" T gets feedback by asking about Ss' friends.

Extra activity (7-10 minutes) • To practice on new words more

T plays a memory game. T puts a picture on the board containing actions the Ss have been taught. Asks Ss to look and remember any actions. T takes out the pic and asks Ss to share their ideas in pairs first and then as a class.
