Description

In this lesson, students will learn Third Person 's' in Simple Present Tense. They will use positive form to express daily activities in third person.

Materials

Abc Jumbled Words

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice in using third person singular in Simple Present Tense

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice in speaking with the form third person singular.

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To warm the students

*Greet students *Play the song

Exposure (9-10 minutes) • To introduce the new vocabulary

*T shows the flashcards and tries to elicit the new vocabulary *T gets Ss to drill the new vocabulary *T gets students to repeat using the flashcards *T plays 'guess what's missing game with Ss.

Present (10-11 minutes) • To present the Third Person Singular form in Simple Present Tense

*Ask Ss to listen to the song carefully to see what is different from the new language learned. *Play first half of the song and try to elicit that in the song there is no 's'. *If not T will point it out. *T plays the second part of the song and draws their attention to the form again. *T gets students to drill; I comb my hair. She combs her hair. I read a book. She reads a book. etc.

Controlled Practice 1 (9-10 minutes) • To practice sentence order

*T gets students to form groups by using three the same pictures and Ss to find who has them and get into groups of 3. *T gets each group member to say what's in the pictures; I read a book. Betül reads a book. *T hands out the jumbled words and gets Ss to form sentences same as they practiced with the flashcards.

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-6 minutes) • To get the students practicing using the third singular person 's'

*T gives a ball to students and asks to pass it around while the music is playing. When the music stops who ever has the ball has to say what the Picture is using the person teacher asks. *T finishes the class.
