In this lesson, students will learn verb patterns ( -ing, infinitive or question words ) and how to use them with the adjectives in order to express opinions in the context of communication .then they will practise making sentences and how to use words in the right order.They will follow up this with a short speaking dsicussing what activity they think is a waste of time

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification ,review and practice of the the verb Patterns ( -ing ,the infinitive or question words ) with the adjectives to express opinions and how to put the words in the right order to form a sentence

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a group work in the context of expressing feelings and opinions using adjectives with the infinitive or ing form


Warmer (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students about using feelings and giving opinions vocabulary

t asks ss to give a sentence about how do they feel about the weather and let them think what they can do .ss will say : It's ( nice / sunny / beautiful ) and ask what can we do ? Ss say ( go to the beach / go to the park / ..) then ask them to link the two sentences together to form a sentence using to + infinitive or - ing pattern

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide exercise 1 and highlight useful words and phrases to form sentences expressing feelings

T writes the adjectives on the WB and the verb patterns on the other side of the WB and ask Ss to join them together to form a sentence then ask them to use other forms of the verb.

Language Analysis (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the asking about feelings vocabulary

T asks CCQ to check SS understanding like : —Does te meaning differ when changing the word pattern (ing or infinitive or question word ? — Are the sentence similar in form ? — how is the sentence stress different ?

Exercise 2 (5-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice vocabulary and to form sentences

T show Ss the HO and ask them to unjumble the cut up of sentence to form a sentence of feeling. T arranges Ss into groups to do the task , and clarify that the fastest group to finish is the winner . and then T gives the answer key on WB

Planning (5-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports about what activity they consider to be a waste of time .

T shows SS Ho and asks them to decide in pairs which activity is useless or a waste of time and asks them to tick next to it . Then T asks SS to discuss their ideas with another partner.

Report (5-7 minutes) • To allow students to write more

to invite Ss to add two more sentences to each category( at work /home/going out )

Language Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

T asks Ss to agree on three activites they consider to be a waste of time
